  • ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This poster brings together several works from Invader’s Rubikcubism series where iconic images are rebuilt using only Rubik cubes. By limiting himself to the six standard cube colors Invader creates vibrant pixel like compositions with bold structure and cultural depth.

Variants featured in this edition include

    • A reinterpretation of Gustave Courbet’s painting of a reclining nude

    • The famous baby underwater from the Nirvana album cover

    • A single Rubik cube presented as a visual icon

    • A classic white space invader centered on bright backgrounds

    • Marilyn Monroe’s portrait reduced to vibrant pixel blocks

    • Jack Nicholson’s face screaming through a broken door from the film The Shining

    • A modern version of the green apple self portrait by René Magritte with the apple replaced by a green space invader

    • A multilayered composition made entirely from stacked Rubik cubes creating a bold three dimensional effect

    • A blurred self portrait of Invader solving a cube with his face intentionally obscured

    • The portrait of a woman with long hair and a red tie possibly referencing a pop culture character wearing masculine suit in classic Hollywood movie

Each piece in this poster reflects Invader’s mastery of the Rubikcube as both medium and concept turning familiar figures into coded compositions that blend humor abstraction and homage. The Rubikcubism works stand at the crossroads of contemporary art video games nostalgia and cultural remix.

  • ARTIST BIO

nvader is a French artist born in 1969 and known internationally for his pixel inspired mosaic installations placed in public spaces. He began his artistic journey in the late 1990s and has since installed thousands of works in more than 80 cities worldwide. His creations are based on early arcade aesthetics and his name comes from the famous Space Invaders game.

Beyond street installations Invader explores different formats including sculptures prints videos and Rubikcubism a technique where he assembles hundreds of Rubik cubes to recreate complex visuals. This unique approach allows him to revisit art cinema music and icons of global culture with a signature style that is instantly recognizable.

Although his identity remains unknown his works continue to generate excitement among collectors institutions and fans of contemporary urban art. Invader’s Rubikcubism is both a visual game and a conceptual statement about remixing culture with the tools of play.
